I was thinking, we should start something now, just to begin to get used to each other (The staff doesn't seem to need this as much) and so we can work out the gameplay. Nothing big, maybe just a 3-5 player fun and straight to the point getting-to-know-you mission. Low stakes, solid opportunity for character work.
The most obvious way would be to have someone put together a crew for some purpose. Anything will work, bounty, secret rebel stuff, secret empire stuff, even a good old fashioned heist. If we really want to aim high we could even go in for an assassination.
Luke, you seem to have a lot of experience, you'd probably make a good center for it. Obviously your character probably has the most motivation too since he seems pretty built up.
Starwarsfan, I'm not sure if you're planning on playing but it'd be a nice jumping off point.
Anyone in and/or have any suggestions?

I was thinking something like that would be a good idea. Having a smaller RP would be a good chance to get familiar with everyone's characters and style, and then we could work out a main plot after that, and plus, it would provide a good jumping-off point for our characters to meet in-universe.
I think either a bounty or a small-scale strike against the Empire, kind of like the first episode of Rebels, would be a good choice to start with, but like you said just about anything could do. I'd definitely be in.

Great! Maybe being paid to sabotage a Imperial operation? Best of both worlds, moral and money making.
I think one more person would be good before we start, it should be slow enough in the beginning for more people to jump in as it goes along. In the meantime, how are we going to hook these characters up? Basic set up by employer?

Well, my character is a mercenary and already harbors a grudge against the Empire, so perhaps we could start by having him put together a crew for a hit on the Empire. I can PM you to work out some of the details of you want to help come up with a basic plot for it.
As for the actual format, I think that we should definitely wait for at least one more, or maybe even more if possible. The way the forum I used to RP on typically handled things was we would post an out of character thread and then a separate game thread for each RP, so that way we would have a thread to RP in and a separate thread to plan, post characters, let each other know if we were gone, or what have you without cluttering the game thread, and it seemed to work pretty well, so I would recommend doing that here, as well, unless anyone else knows of a better system.
